Position:

Hospitality Consulting Summer Intern – accepting applications for Summer 2012

This is a hospitality consulting internship with an emphasis on real estate. Applicants must have operational and / or educational experience in hospitality and real estate. The intern will have responsibility for 2 major projects and will also learn about the hospitality consulting industry.

Requirements:

• Strong report writing and analytical skills
• Internet research proficiency
• Excellent Excel, Word, and Outlook capabilities (Microsoft Office 2007)
• Junior or Senior status
• Preference given for real estate coursework

Responsibilities:

Internship Project

• Varies each year depending on intern's interests and skills

Hospitality Research Project

• Research hospitality properties including hotels, resorts, waterparks, ski resorts, and golf courses online and by phone
• Collect and verify information about hospitality real estate transactions and comparable properties
• Update H&LA’s hospitality industry statistics and spreadsheets

Introduction to Hospitality Consulting

• Shadow H&LA consultants
• Assist consultants with project research
• Research and write report sections
• Proofread reports for grammatical, mathematical, and formatting errors
• Accompany consultants on a client visit if there is a local opportunity

Position:

Hospitality Valuation Analyst / Consultant

• Undergraduate or graduate degree with a hospitality emphasis
• Hotel management experience
• Strong report writing, analytical and financial skills
• Excellent Excel and Word capabilities
• Internet research proficiency
• Commitment to quality, integrity, and thorough research in the field of hospitality consulting and real estate valuation
• Coursework relevant to real estate appraisal and state certification a plus

Responsibilities:

• Collect information in the field, online, and from qualified industry sources
• Perform appraisals, feasibility studies, impact analysis, and consulting assignments for hotels, resorts, waterparks, golf courses, restaurants, conference and convention centers, and other leisure real estate
• Produce comprehensive studies that are well written, detailed, and insightful
• Travel nationwide for research from Cleveland office

Compensation: 

We seek entry level and experienced candidates whose base salary will be commensurate with experience.  Additional bonus plan based on percentage of professional fees after training period.  Benefits include medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, retirement plan, and education reimbursement.

Research Analyst

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g., English, Library Science, or Journalism)
• Excellent Excel, Word, and Outlook capabilities
• Internet research proficiency
• Strong report writing and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently
• Experience in the hospitality industry a plus

Responsibilities:

• Creative problem solving for refining project objectives independently and with consultant assistance
• Determine best research and reporting methods to use for various hospitality related projects
• Proofread reports and proposals for grammatical, mathematical, and formatting errors
• Collect data from online and print sources to update files and databases
• Write letters and proposals
• Assist in writing certain sections of reports using a previous report as a go by
• Conduct market area research by phone
• Update and maintain shared contacts in Outlook and other customer contact applications
• Provide back-up for Senior Research Analyst when needed
• Occasionally fill in for Administrative Assistant and perform general office duties including answering phone, handling mail, ordering supplies, etc.
